These items are part of the CS510 Wireless Headset. These components are required for the operation of the headset as well as the addition of an APP-51 wiring adapter. There will be a plug adapter that is part of the kit that is not required for this installation and should be removed from the installation process.
The APP-51 is a wiring harness that is used to connect the CS-510 charging base to the Polycom VVX telephone.
Please take note of the connector ends and the socket on the base of the Polycom VVX telephone. You will notice that a pin is missing on the plug and there will be one of the connectors sockets is blocked and will serve as an alignment guide.
Now connect the other end of the APP-51 cable to the CS-510 charging base and connect the external power supply.
Once the APP-51 adapter cable and power supply have been connected it will be a good time to set the configuration switches on the bottom side of the CS-510 charging base. Please refer to the settings in the picture below.
Once the charging base switches have been set it is time to place the CS-510 headset into the charging base. Depending on the current charge of the headset battery several hours of charging could be required in order to achieve a full charge.
A full charge of the CS-510 is indicated by a solid green light on the face of the charging base.
Now that the connections and settings are complete on the CS-510 base and telephone it is now time to configure the Polycom VVX telephone for wireless headset operations.
On the face of the telephone, there will be a button with a house Icon (Home Button) and a navigation cluster. These two controls will be used to complete the configuration changes.
Press the Home Button until the link Icon appear and use the navigation cluster to highlight the Settings icon. When the Settings icon is highlighted then press the center button on the navigation cluster.
When the next screen appears to navigate to Basic select using the center button on the navigation cluster.
Then navigate to Preferences and select using the center button on the navigation cluster.
Then navigate to Headset and select using the center button on the navigation cluster.
Then navigate to Headset Memory and select using the center button on the navigation cluster.
Then navigate to Enabled and select using the center button on the navigation cluster and then press the back button under the screen.
Then navigate to Hookswitch Mode and select using the center button on the navigation cluster.
Then navigate to Plantronics EHS and select using the center button on the navigation cluster. Note once you select the Plantronics EHS option the telephone will ask you are you Sure? Answer yes and the telephone will reboot.
Once the telephone restarts it is time to test the operations of the headset and telephone. The telephone can be used in a handset only mode which functions as if there is no wireless headset or in the wireless headset mode.
Place the CS-510 wireless headset on your head.
Now press the Headset button on the face of the telephone. The Headset lamp will be lite solid and dial tone will be heard over the headset.
Dial a number and conduct a test call.
When the test call is complete the call can be terminated by again pressing the headset button on the telephone. This will hang up the call and the Headset lamp will flash. A flashing headset lamp indicates the headset is active and can answer incoming calls or cause the telephone to go off-hook to place another outgoing call.
Pressing the flashing headset button will turn off the lamp and headset connection so normal handset operations can continue.
Now it is time to test the hookswitch control on the headset. Press the center button on the side of the wireless headset one time. Dialtone will be heard and pressing the center button a second time will hand up the telephone and dial tone will stop.
So, now press the center button one time and hear dial tone. Use the telephone dial pad to call someone.
Once this test call is complete again press the center button on the headset to hang up the test call. NOTE – the headset light on the face of the telephone will flash. This is an indication that the headset and telephone is in the wireless headset mode and is in standby.
When a call comes into the telephone the user can press the center button on the headset to answer the call. Likewise, the user can press the center button again to hangup the call.
To toggle between the two different modes one will press the Headset button on the face of the Polycom Telephone. When the headset is in an active call situation, the headset lamp is lite solid.
Flashing Green Headset Lamp – The wireless headset is in standby.
Solid Green Headset Lamp – The wireless headset is in an active call.
Dark Headset Lamp – Normal handset operation.
